A downloadable soundtrack

STORY:

It is a futuristic 1990, in a Forgotten Digital World at an abandoned tech company called HNR, where the only program left is a security program, Krystul. The tech company developed advanced AI, Factory/Comercialized Robots, and security robots. After financial issues, the company had to abandon all its products, leaving only viruses to take over, consuming all programs and robots that could not fend for themselves. After decades of hiding in a frozen state, it was time for the security program to wake up to a world that was no longer what it used to be for it will be up to you to heal and restore what is left of the digital world.

MUSIC:

Electronic/Vaporwave

My inspiration for this soundtrack was mainly from Keith Mansfield, from his 80s era KPM albums and the Blade Runner Soundtrack. I was debating if I wanted to make this soundtrack super sad and ambient or more hyped up, and I think if you listen to the soundtrack you will know what I chose :).

Welcome to HNR(Title Theme)

This is the first song you will hear as soon as you start up the game. I went for a heavily synthwave approach that would slowly immerse the player in the game. I went fo that more ambient/sad feeling I was talking about before to signify that this world is, in fact, forgotten.

Thawed State

This is the opening cinematic where Krystul is being thawed out and awakening to a world that is not what it remembers. From the beeping sound from the machine to the grand synth chords at the end. This sets the heroic feeling and goal that you will need to venture through the rest of the game.

What's Left

I wanted this song to be the song that really indicates that this company's better days. With Krystul walking around abandoned labs and offices in the digital world. You feel the melancholy of what once was a thriving world.

Computer Lab

I wanted this song to be the first combat encounter song that almost acts as a little motivator after the "What's Left" to indicate to the player that it is now time to take up the challenge. At first I went for a very 80s jazz fusion vibe, but it veered away from the computer vibe, so I got some electric drums, a different time signature, and calmed it down to better fit a first combat song.

Check Up

This was a little extra song I made. I originally wanted this song to play in the settings menu, but then I switched to it being the music for the upgrade center where Krystul will...well... upgrade its equipment. I chose a more poppy song to indicate the past of the factory and the music that played when it was thriving, but I heavily reverbed it to make it more distant, for those times are now gone. At least you get a taste of it while you are upgrading, though!

GAME:

I don't really have a clear idea for what this game would look like, but I was torn between a third-person action game like Pragmata or a top-down RPG-like game. The core gameplay is Krystul would have hacking skills and various other weapons produced from defeating viruses to essentially cleanse different parts of the companies' servers and hardware
